The Foundation is located at 3 Rokkou Vergoti Street and has been operating since 1969 under the auspices of the Charitable Institutions of Kefalonia, with the aim of providing dignified care and support to elderly people in the area.

The home is designed to provide care for sixty elderly people, through a contract with OGA, as well as for wealthy elderly people, without a contract, who originate from Kefalonia. The building of the Argostoli Retirement Home was erected with donations and generous sponsorships, while its operation is funded by grants and donations. The living spaces of the Foundation are carefully renovated and configured, with the aim of offering an environment that enhances the dignity and comfort of its residents.

Care at the Argostoli Retirement Home is not limited to the basic needs of its residents. Beyond hygiene, housing, and nutrition, specialized physiotherapy is provided for the rehabilitation and improvement of residents' mobility. Additionally, appropriate provision is made for psychological support, while entertainment programs are offered for the restoration of residents' psycho-social well-being.

This means that residents can enjoy a comfortable and safe living, in an environment that encourages independent living as much as possible. Finally, it is important to note that the nursing home has its own property and is self-funded, without financial assistance from the municipality. This model ensures its independence and sustainability, while demonstrating the effective management of resources and donations for the benefit of its residents.

Lixouri Nursing Home

The Lixouri Nursing Home, a distinguished care facility, is an important part of the Lixouri community in Kefalonia. With approximately 50 beds, it offers not only accommodation but also personal care, medical monitoring, and therapeutic activities to its residents.

It is a non-profit legal entity under Private Law, governed by the legal provisions concerning its nature and form as a Foundation. This means that it manages its activities and resources based on its private nature and the principles governing private law. It is ranked among the most important units in the field of secondary care in Kefalonia, and its work is recognized by all citizens both on and off the island.

Its history began in January 1916, with limited resources, but with unwavering dedication to providing care to the elderly of the community. Since then, it has evolved into a distinguished facility offering high-quality services for the elderly in the area. With these capabilities and its history, the Lixouri Nursing Home represents an important part of the community, offering safety, care, and support to the elderly residents of the area.
