#MarchToGaza: From Kefalonia to Gaza – When the world can no longer remain silent!

There are moments in history when neutrality is not an option. Where silence is not a sign of composure, but complicity. Where "I'm not getting involved" is equivalent to "I'm watching the slaughter and turning my gaze elsewhere." But how? A genocide is taking place in the 21st century and are we going to pretend we don't know, don't understand, don't see, don't hear?

History writes. And we, in the present given to us with freedom, are called to decide which side of it we will stand on. Beautiful Kefalonia, which knows pain and destruction, is present once again and unites its voice with all those who refuse to remain silent. This Sunday, June 15th, Vallianou Square in Argostoli will be filled with people who will unite their voices with the global river of humanity rising in Gaza.

What is #MarchToGaza that everyone is talking about?

A global wave of solidarity is rising. Citizens from every corner of the Earth are deciding to take a stand where the powerful hesitate. This is how #MarchToGaza was born — the international march of humanity and dignity.

A global caravan of solidarity, independent of parties, governments, ideologies and interests. A movement of people who chose to stand up where state mechanisms are inactive. Because when states fail, then the people must intervene.

Since yesterday, June 12, delegations of 2,500 people from 36 countries and five continents have gathered in Cairo with the aim of starting the march towards Al Arish, on the coast of Sinai, and from there walking almost 50 kilometers on foot, to the borders of Rafah, on the doorstep of Gaza. Among them is the Greek delegation, the third largest internationally, with 205 members.

This march aims to break the blockade of the Palestinian enclave, as the sailboat Madleen from the Freedom Flotilla also attempted.

The Madleen traveled for all of us. Now it's our turn.

Specifically, a few days earlier, the small sailboat "Madleen" which was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza was violently diverted by Israeli forces, who took it to an Israeli port. The 12 passengers—people of international renown, from different professional fields, with a common purpose—openly denounced this act as an abduction in international waters. Among them, the famous Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who once again raised her voice against the hypocrisy of the powerful.

You may have stopped 12. We are coming in thousands!

Argostoli could not be absent from this struggle. The island, which already sent images from the protest in Myrtos with the giant Palestinian flag and the slogan "Stop Genocide", will be present in Vallianou Square on Sunday at 8:00 PM.

Because—let's put it as simply as possible—in this story there is no place for "neutrality".
Either with humanity or with barbarism.
Either with life or with death.

    Choose!

    All eyes now on Gaza.
