Screening of the Film "The Queen of the Hive / Hive" at ANAKARA

The Anakara Cultural Association continues its film screenings and invites you to a special movie night on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., at the Association's Multiplex, in the former VES/TEI TIMO, in Lixouri.

This time, the multi-award-winning film "The Queen of the Hive / Hive" (2021) will be screened, a powerful social drama based on true events, which sensitively and powerfully highlights a woman's struggle for dignity, survival, and freedom.

Based on true events, a shocking story of female emancipation that was Kosovo's submission for this year's Oscars, triumphed at the Sundance Festival, and won the Audience Award for the Balkan Glimpses section of the 62nd Thessaloniki Film Festival.

Synopsis
Farige's husband has been missing since the war broke out in Kosovo, and along with their grief over his loss, the family also faces many financial difficulties. To provide for her family, Farige starts a small agricultural business. However, in the small, closed, patriarchal society where she lives, her ambition and her efforts to empower herself and other women are met with great negativity. She struggles not only for her family's survival but also against a hostile society that wants to see her fail.
