Press Release of Laiki Syspeirosi on the Collapse of a Second Lamppost in Lixouri Square and the Dangerous Situation Developing in Lixouri

Below is the full press release of "Laiki Syspeirosi" of Lixouri Municipality, regarding the collapse of a second lamppost in Lixouri square and the dangers that, according to the announcement, arise for public safety.

    Lixouri 4/2/2026

THE MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY OF LIXOURI IS NOT JUST ANTI-PEOPLE, IT IS DANGEROUS

A second lamppost collapsed in front of the astonished eyes of citizens in the Central Square of Lixouri today, 4/2/2026, and by pure luck, there were no casualties or material damage. It is obvious that the Administration of Lixouri Municipality can no longer invoke either the weather conditions or material failure. This specific project —the replacement of old light fixtures with lighter and unsuitable bodies— has been delivered quite some time ago and has already proven its "durability" and its dangerousness.

The only thing left now is for us to mourn victims.

We denounce to the citizens of our Municipality the Municipal Authority for exposing them to immediate danger. We call on all competent authorities to take the necessary actions to protect the lives and property of citizens from an outrageously dangerous Municipal Authority, which refuses to do so itself.

Today, all the much-advertised priorities of the Administration are being debunked, in the most emphatic way. From the "smart" installations to the change of lighting and the miserable, now useless asphalting, it is proven that the only things served were business interests and the groups behind them, and not the popular needs and the safety of the residents. It is proven in practice that, when projects that end up on the heads and property of citizens are accepted by the Municipal Authority, there is something very rotten in the "state of Denmark". A management steeped to the core in policies that push millions to corporations, burdening the people with levies and insecurity.

We call on the Municipal Authority, even now (and at least for as long as weather conditions make the unsuitable light fixtures "time bombs"), to assume its responsibility and take all necessary safety measures, by immediately delineating the danger zones in the square. It must guarantee the safe passage of citizens and the protection of workers (TAXI) and their activities, before we mourn victims.

Laiki Syspeirosi demands that the Municipal Authority immediately dismantle these specific light fixtures, the dangerous asphalt paving, as well as any infrastructures of the "smart cities" project that pose risks, to ensure the obvious: the life and safety of citizens.
