Condolence statement from the George and Marie Vergottis Foundation on the passing of Nikolaos S. Vergottis

The Board of Directors of the George and Marie Vergottis Foundation extends its heartfelt condolences to its Chairman, Mr. Gerasimos N. Vergottis, and his family on the loss of his father.

Nikolaos S. Vergottis, a Master Mariner of the Merchant Marine, steadfastly upheld the path he inherited, guided by principle and values, by family tradition, and by service to his homeland — most notably through his support for the founding of the Naval Academy of Kefalonia. The Foundation owes him recognition for his actions and his contribution to its establishment and subsequent development, as well as for many other acts of care and stewardship toward the island and its people over the years, all of which stand as an example to follow.

He leaves behind the legacy of a man who devoted his life to the common good and to duty, serving them with the utmost respect and constancy.

As a small tribute, the Board of Directors has resolved to be represented at the funeral service, to lay a wreath in his memory, and to make a donation in support of a charitable cause.
